Full Size, Mid 1990's

I made this quilt for Sally Miller, friend Jill's age and daughter of Maplewood friends, when she was married.  It was a pattern I had seen and could think of no other way to make it than by hand.  So it was stitched my hand and then quilted by hand.  I have seen patterns that said it could be done by machine, but I find that a little harder.

Full size, named "Jersey Shore" 1999

I made this quilt for Jill's friend, Diane.  She wanted one showing the colors of the Jersey Shore.  I made it using the pattern we've made for several baby quilts, I just used bigger pieces.  We took it to Diane's and her new husband's apartment and put it on their bed, with a note that said "From the Dickerson Chicks", (The Dixie Chicks was a singing group at the time).

Sonya put this quilt together.  It is really beautiful, a really great pattern.  I quilted it for her.  See in the background a small couch we inherited from somewhere.  It was an ugly orange, and I made the slip cover for it.  Lot of work, but it was worth it.

2 Baby Quilts, about 1995-98

These two quilts are the pattern I learned from Sonya and we have made many of them over the years.  The top one I made for Diane Savvis, a friend in Maplewood, for her daughter's baby.  The second one was for Jackie Ryan, a  young woman I worked with at the store, Kings, when she had a baby.

Full size, for Terryl and DeVern, "Sunshine and Shadows" 1995

I made this full size quilt for Vere's brother DeVern and his wife, Terryl.  The pattern is called "Sunshine and Shadow".  This is one quilt Vere was impressed with.  He was sure Terryl would love it.  I made it for them in appreciation for all they did for our son Bruce, who lived with them as they taught him alot about his trade as an electrician.

2 T-Shirt Quilts, full size, 2004

These two quilts I finished for Soo Thomander, now Moony (sp).  She was married to Robert Smith at the time.  She was step mother to his twin boys and wanted to make them quilts from their t-shirts but she didn't iron stabilizer on the back of the stretchy material.  As a result, it was all gathered and puckered.  She had given up.  But I had made a t-shirt quilt and knew it needed the stabilizer.  I got the two together and tied them for the boys.

This is a quilt my mom started and I made more blocks and finished.  It's here at the house and we use it a lot.
